Rites Monday For Charles Jeffries, 78

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for an Osage retired farmer, Charles D. Jeffries, 78, who died Nov. 12, at Mitchell county Memorial hospital. Mr. Jeffries had been in ill health for a number of years and was admitted to the hospital Nov. 9, undergoing heart surgery at that time.

The Rev. William Kamke, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran church in Toeterville was in charge of the rites at the Champion Funeral Home and burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Charles Delza Jeffries was born in Rock township, Mitchell county, March 11, 1892, the son of Fred W. and Luella Lovejoy Jeffries. He grew to manhood west of Osage, attending the rural schools of the area. He also attended Cedar Valley Seminary.

Melinda (Mayme) Ann Madison and Charles Jeffries were married April 16, 1913. They engaged in farming and lived north of Osage since 1923.

Surviving are his wife, Mayme and 10 nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
