Mayme Jeffries

Osage - Mayme Jeffries, 101, Osage, died Friday (Nov. 14, 1997) at the Faith Home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Champion Funeral Home with the Rev. Marie Lewis officiating. Burial is in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and will continue Monday until time of service.

Mayme Jeffries was born Sept. 2, 1896, in Osage, the daughter of William and Georgia (Smalley) Madison. She was educated in Osage schools. Mayme married Charles D. Jeffries on April 16, 1913. They farmed near Osage for many years. Charles died Nov. 28, 1970. Mayme later moved to Osage. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a charter member of the Osage Senior Citizens. She moved to the Worth Living Center in St. Ansgar in 1992 and has been a resident of the Faith Home in Osage since November 1996.

Survivors include a nephew, Dean Hugi and his wife, Merle, of Mason City; a niece, Dorothy Berg of Pippen, Wis.; and several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, two sisters, Truley and Metta, and two brothers, Merle and David.
