Funeral Held For Earl Jeffries, 63

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for a lifelong resident of the Osage community, Earl H. Jeffries, 63, who died Saturday at his home here as the result of a malignancy. He had been ill for several months and was for confined to Mitchell County Memorial hospital and University hospitals in Iowa City for treatment.

The Rev. Obert Haven was in charge of the services at Our Savior's Lutheran church, and burial was in the Osage cemetery. C.R. Champion and Sons were in charge of arrangements.

Earl Harry Jeffries was born February 26, 1898, in Rock township west of Osage, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jeffries. He was educated in the Rock township school and attended Osage High School. He was employed by Cedar Valley Produce until his health failed.

Mr. Jeffries was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. Luther Berven at Our Savior's Lutheran church in 1953.

He was married to Gustava Johnson, October 13, 1921. All of their married life was spent in the immediate vicinity of Osage.

Surviving are his wife, Gustava of Osage, three sons, Ernest of Floyd, Frances of La Paz, Bolivia, South America; and Orland of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Nancy of Mason City; four grandchildren and one brother, Charles of Osage.

Preceding him in death were one brother, Jess, and one sister, Mrs. Ina Carter.
