Rites Here For Ray Carter, Sr.
Funeral services for a retired Osage farmer, Ray Carter, 86, who died February 6, at Faith Home, were held Saturday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home. Mr. Carter had been a resident at Faith Home the past four months.
The Rev George Hope, pastor of the Baptist church was in charge of the rites, and was assisted by the Rev. David Ide. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.
Ernest Ray Carter, Sr., was born July 1, 1887, in Cedar township, Mitchell county, the son of George and Nellie Clark Carter.
Ina Jeffries and Ray Carter were married March 27, 1907. They farmed west of Osage all of their married life.
Mr. Carter was a member of the Baptist church and a charter member of the Mitchell County Farm Bureau. He was a wood craftsman and colelcted antiques.
Proceding him in death were his wife, one son, one great grandchild, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two sons: Ernest R., St. Ansgar and Earl of Los Angeles; two daughters: Mrs. Lee Hobkirk (Gladys) of Osage and Mrs. Lulu Shoger of Riceville; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one brother, Vern Carter of Graetinger, and one sister, Mrs. Millie Carter of Folsom, Calif.
