Ardis Kathleen Maakestad was born March 14, 1924 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Ingvald Myron Maakestad and Pearl Irene Olson, the first of their three children. She had a younger sister who was also named Ardis and a younger brother.

She died October 10, 1924 at a hospital in Rochester, Olmsted, Minnesota.

Ardis was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
