Christine Maakestad was born November 22, 1870 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Ole Johnsen Maakestad and Kjersti Engebritsdatter Qvisle Nelson, the fourth of their seven children. Christine had a twin sister, Oline.

Christine died on August 29, 1871 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
