John D. Lorentzen, 85, passed away on December 19, 2013. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street, Boone at 11 a.m. Family will greet guests a half hour before the service.

John was born on August 23, 1928 on a farm north of Scranton, in Green County, Iowa to Hazel and Jesse Lorentzen. John worked for Fareway as a truck driver and in the warehouse from1955 to 1993.

John is survived by his wife of 4 years, Sharon, son, Dan Lorentzen of St. Ansgar, IA; step-children, Karen (Wyatt) George of Batavia, ILL, Kathy (Jay) Nebel of Urbandale, IA, Jim (Kelly) Luther of Pasadena, MD and Jeff Luther of Urbandale, IA.; sister, Esther Hedges of Jefferson, IA and his brother, Lyle Lorentzen of Billings, MT.

He is preceded in death by two former wives, Dorothy Jean Lewis and Helen T. Weber; siblings Rhea Linn, Marie Helin, Georgie Gebart and Harold C.
