Kristy K. Koster

AMES, IOWA - Kristy K. Koster, 54, of Ames, passed away February 22, 2014, in Iowa City, after a brief illness.

Kristy was born on March 21, 1959 in Osage, and attended Visitation Grade School in Stacyville, and St. Ansgar Sr. High School. After high school she attended Iowa State University and graduated in 1982 and began her career in the food service department at Iowa State University. She became an excellent baker and was the favorite go to person when special events at Iowa State occurred. Kristy loved to travel with her family and enjoyed her yearly trips with her sisters across the United States and Europe.

She was an excellent care-giver to her father and will be sorely missed by all of her family. We will never forget her infectious smile and caring nature.

Kristy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend, and was preceded in death by her mother, Delores, two brothers, Patrick and Mark, and brother-in-law, Larry Cain.

Kristy is survived by her father, Edgar, Nevada, Iowa, four sisters, Karen Cain, Janesville, Wisconsin, Jane Koster, Des Moines, Nancy (Michael) Teasdale, Edina, Minnesota, Mary (Efren) Vintimilla, Asheville, North Carolina, and sister-in-law, Teresa Ondracek (Pat), four brothers, Daniel, Boise, Idaho, Dale (Jennifer), Prescott Valley, Arizona, Paul (Carole), Bloomington, Minnesota, and Craig (Naoise), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, along with 17 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Auburn, Iowa, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 1. A private burial service will be held at a later date. Following mass will be a luncheon.

Our family would like to thank the staffs at Mary Greeley in Ames and the University of Iowa Hospitals for the wonderful care and love Kristy received while being hospitalized. Thank you to the many caring and supportive friends and extended family for the kind words and prayers during this time.
