CRANE LAKE, MINNESOTA - Caroline M. Crain, 85, of Crane Lake, Minnesota, former 60-year resident of Riceville, Iowa, died Thursday, June 13, 1991, at Cook Community Nursing Home, Cook, Minnesota.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Riceville United Methodist Church. The Rev. William McAlpine will officiate, with burial in Riverside Cemetery at Riceville. The body was cremated. Mlaker Funeral Home, Cook, is in charge of arrangements.
Caroline Crain was born December 11, 1905, at Riceville to Adelbert and Mabel (Smith) Wilkes. She was raised in Riceville and attended schools there.
On May 11, 1923, she married Raymond B. Crain at Fredericksburg. She worked as a clerk for the former Gooder Bakery, Mosher Dry Good Store and Mason's Supermarket, and was a telephone operator for the former Farmers Telephone Co., all in Riceville.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church at Riceville, and served as treasurer at church for many years.
Survivors include one son, Rod and his wife, Arlene Crain, of Crane Lake, Minnesota; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on July 5, 1990; three brothers: Robert, Joseph and Mason Wilkes; and four sisters: Gertrude Sivalia, Blanche Blandin, Florence Herdman and Amy Mahaffey.

She was born Caroline Mary Wilkes on December 11, 1905, at Riceville, Iowa; the daughter of Adelbert and Carrie (Smith) Wilkes. She was raised at Riceville and attended the schools there.
She married Raymond B. Crain on may 11, 1923, at Fredricksburg, Iowa. She had worked as a clerk for Gooder Bakery, Mosher Dry Good Store and for Mason's Supermarket, and also as a telephone operator for Farmers Telephone Company, all in Riceville. Caroline was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church of Riceville, and had served as its treasure for many years. She had lived in Riceville for about 60 years, then moved to Osage for five years before moving to Crane Lake, Minnesota a year ago. She died at the Cook Community Nursing Home on June 13, 1991.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on July 5, 1990; along with three brothers:, Robert, Joseph and Mason Wilkes; and four sisters: Gertrude Sivalia, Blanche Blandin, Florence Herdman and Amy MaHaffey.
She is survived by one son, Rod (Arlene) Crain of Crane Lake, Minnesota; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
