FORMER RICEVILLE WOMAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Riceville – Mrs. Dave Dunlevie, a former Riceville resident, died at her home in Los Angeles. Funeral services were held there.
The former Alma Bessman, she was a sister of the late Otto Bessman.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters and a half-sister; Martha Reckner Barnett; and a sister-in-law; Mrs. Grace Bessman, Riceville.

Alma Bessman was born July 25, 1895 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Otto Bessman Sr., and Mary Wilhelmina (Sprung) Reckner Bessman.
She married David Clarkson Dunlevie who was born in Scotland and immigrated to the US in 1906. (immigration records).

They had two daughters Mary and Martha both born in California. Martha Jean Dunlevie married (? Gates). Martha died May 21, 1966 and is buried in the same cemetery as her parents.

The half- sister mentioned in her obit; Martha Barnett was Martha Auguste (Reckner) Barnett, the daughter of Christian Frederick August Reckner and her mother Mary Wilhelmina Sprung.

Her mothers’ first husband Christian "August" Reckner was born March 16, 1853 and died June 21, 1885.

Alma also had a half-brother Oscar Reckner born April 16, 1882. Alma’s full brother was Otto Bessman Jr. . He was born in 1892 and died in 1960. He’s buried in the Riverside Cemetery.

(b) Mary W 40 born October 1859 Germany, married 10 years; (Mary Wilhelmina (Sprung). Her first husband was Christian Frederick August Reckner 1853-1885.

(c) Oscar F 17 born April 1883 Iowa; (his name was actually Oscar Frank Reckner, born April 16, 1883 according to his WWI Draft registration

(d) Martha A 15 born February 1885 Iowa; (her name was actually Martha Auguste Reckner). She married ? Barnett

(e) Otto A 8 born March 1892 Iowa; Otto was born March 22, 1892 and died January 1, 1960. He married Grace Naab

(f) Alma H 4 born July 1895 Iowa. Alma was born July 25, 1895 and died December 28, 1962 in California. She married David Clarkson Dunlevie.
