Else Marie Fjelde was born March 26, 1853 at Valdres, Oppland, Norway to Ole A. Olsen Fjelde and Gunnhild Mari Eriksdatter Haugsrud (Haugerud), the oldest of their five children. Her younger siblings were: Erik Olsen Fjelde, Martin Olsen Fjelde, Ole Jr., and Harald Olsen Fjelde.

She emigrated 1882 to America with her parents, they settled in Mitchell County, Iowa.

Else married George Oscar Oleson Moe on March 17, 1892 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

The couple had one daughter Georgia Olava born September 10, 1893. The couple farmed on land in Cedar township and continued to live on the farm after George Moe died April 22, 1897.

Else died January 16, 1912 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
