Geraldine Marie “Jerry” Burke, 71, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born December 23, 1925, in Cresco, the daughter of Clarence and Marguerite Hauber Huber. She married Richard W. Burke December 5, 1950, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She and her husband were former owners and operators of W 3rd Street Grocery and 1st Street Furniture, both in Waterloo. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church for 30 years.

Survivors include her husband. Richard Burke, of waterloo; three sons, James, of Cedar Rapids; Thomas, of San Francisco; Greg of Waterloo; two daughters, Judy Rieck of Waterloo; Kathy Cooley of Waterloo; two sisters, Connie Burke of Rochester, Minnesota; Barb Siler of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and two great grand-children.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Parnell Huber.

Services were Saturday, April 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
