Anders H. Sponheim was born at Ulvike, Hardanger, Norway, June 2, 1834. There he was baptized and confirmed. His parents were Helge A. Sponheim and Ingeborg E. Sponheim. He immigrated to America in 1891 and has lived with his children near Osage and St. Ansgar, Iowa, till the time of his death.

In 1864 he married Mrs. Synneva Oppedahl. This union was blessed with four children, Ole, the oldest, died at the age of 27, Harry Sponheim is located at Eau Claire, Wis., E.A. Sponheim lives here at St. Ansgar and Amos Sponheim at Seatle, Washington.

Mr. Sponheim has been of feeble health for some time. He has been sick a bed for over 14 months. Death finally relieved his sufferings on Saturday, July 8th.

The funeral was held July 10th, with services at the U.N.L. Church, Rev. Waldeland officiating and he was laid to rest at the U.N.L. cemetery south of St. Ansgar.
