Jurn “Curly” Rieman, age 84, of Rudd, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Charles City.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Eden Presbyterian Church, 3105 Glass Avenue, rural Rudd, with Rev. John Bates officiating. Burial will be in Eden Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church.
Jurn was born August 19, 1927, in Owen Township, Cerro Gordo County, the son of Hie and Marie (Weaverling) Rieman. He graduated from Rudd High School in 1945. On October 27, 1946, he married Mary Jane Stromley at Eden Presbyterian Church. Jurn started farming and then worked for a grain elevator, the co-op tank wagon and Armour. From 1976 until1989, he managed motels. Jurn was a member of Eden Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed bowling, dancing with his wife, watching his children in sports and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed the Hawkeyes and the Twins.
Jurn is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Rieman of Rudd; his children, Dennis Rieman and special friend, Bonny Derr, of Rudd, Darwin Rieman of Rockford, Delmer and Kris (Hanson) Rieman of Newell, Douglas Rieman of Newell, Donald Rieman of Newell, Candace Eimers and special friend, Russ Demaray, of Charles City; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Irene (Leo) Schupanitz of Mason City; and brother, Richard (Cora) Rieman of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jule Rieman.
