Christina Anna (Pappas) Neis – February 9, 1921 – March 28, 2009

ROCHESTER -- The funeral Mass for Christina Anna Neis will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in downtown Rochester. Burial will be in St. Killian's Catholic Cemetery in Wykoff.

Mrs. Neis, 88, died Saturday (March 28, 2009) in Rochester.

She was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Manly, Iowa, to George and Rosemary (Weber) Pappas. On Nov. 26, 1940, she married Raymond Joseph Neis Sr. in Stacyville, Iowa. They became parents to five sons and three daughters.

Mrs. Neis was a homemaker while they lived in Iowa, and following their move to Fillmore County in 1957. When her children were grown, and the couple moved to Rochester in 1976, she began work as a nurses aid at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home. She was always looking to help people and this job was another way to help those in need. She will be remembered for her love of God and her family, who meant everything to her. Her positive and kind approach to life will be missed by family and friends.

She is survived by Ronald (Eloise) of Spring Valley, Raymond (Cyndee) of Oronoco, Robert (Lois) of Wisconsin Dells, Maridean (Marv) Fernelius of Okoboji, Iowa, and Rosemary of Rochester; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Eugene and James; daughter, Janet; and grandson, Raymond III.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
