Aged Mitchell
Resident Dies

OSAGE, IOWA — Orin Tibbetts, 91, among the oldest native born residents of Mitchell county, died at a hospital in Mason City Wednesday evening.

Funeral services have been tentatively set for Friday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home.

Mr. Tibbetts was born in Mitchell County to James and Amanda Tibbetts and farmed until his retirement 30 years ago.

He is survived by the widow who is a patient in a convalescent home at Manly and a brother, L. P. Tibbetts of Osage.

ORAN D. TIBBETTS

Funeral services were held at the Champion Funeral Home Saturday, November 12, 1949, for Oran D. Tibbetts of Mitchell, who died November 9, 1949, at the Mercy Hospital in Mason City. H.F. Risse was in charge of services. Interment was at the Mitchell cemetery.

Oran Tibbetts was born on April 16, 1858, to James L. and Amanda Adams Tibbetts. His parents were pioneer settlers in Mitchell, where Oran was born and lived his entire life.

On January 6, 1881, he was united in marriage to Hattie E. Gillette. One daughter, Bertha, was born to this union.

Oran Tibbetts spent the greater share of his life farming near Mitchell, until he retired about thirty years ago. Since that time he has resided in Mitchell. A life-long member of the Congregational church, he was always active in his church and community affairs.

A daughter and a grandson preceded him in death in 1919. Survivors include his wife, who is a patient in a nursing home in Manly; his only brother, Lloyd, of Osage; two nephews, Ellsworth Tibbetts of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Merle Tibbetts of Osage.
