MRS. EVENSON DIED
SUDDENLY SUNDAY
OF HEART FAILURE

Osage people were shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. Martin Evenson, which occurred on the way home from a family reunion at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Halvorson, Sunday afternoon at about 5 o'clock.

Mrs. Evenson, her son, Even, and daughter, Julia, had spent the day there, Mrs. Evenson appearing in her usual good health. The day had been spoken of as one of the most peculiar experienced in this vicinity for a number of years, as the sky was full of black clouds, and the wind blew terrifically for hours, and the lightning was at times severe.

The car in which they were riding became firmly implanted in a mud hole, and Even and his sister were trying to loosen it. One of them went to the car to reassure their mother and found that she had passed away from heart failure, brought on, it is thought, by fright and nervousness.

The manner of her death is doubly sad to the children, as it brings back vividly their father's death about two years ago. Mr. Evenson fell from the roof of a barn, and was found after he had been dead for some time.

Funeral services were held this morning from the Osage Lutheran church, in charge of Rev. K.G. Nilsen, and interment was in the local cemetery.

MRS. OLINE EVENSON
DIED SUDDENLY --
WAS BURIED TUESDAY

Oline Evenson was born in Ringsaker, Hedemarken, Norway, on December 26, 1857, the oldest child of Jacob and Sedsel Peterson. While she was still a small child her parents came to America, living near Salem, Wisconsin, about ten years, after which time they came to Floyd county, Iowa.

On June 30, 1873, she was united in marriage with Martin Evenson, and together they established a home on a farm five miles north of Rudd, Iowa, bravely overcoming the difficulties of the early pioneers. They remained on this place twenty-five years, after which they removed to the present home in Osage.

To this union were born seven children: Mrs. Eline Halvorson, Osage; Mrs. Sedsel Halvorson, Mitchell; Julie and Even, at home; Minna, who died in 1904; Mrs. Olivia Ellingson, St. Ansgar; and Mrs. Alma Sponheim, of Mitchell, Iowa.

Mrs. Evenson was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Clausen. She was always a faithful member of the church, attending services regularly and supporting the work of the church.

She was a quiet, home-loving wife and mother, and never spared herself in the interest of her family, and was a true Christian influence to all who knew her. Her husband preceded her in death on February 2, 1922, and she, gradually failing in health, died very suddenly from heart failure on Sunday, September 21, at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 25 days.

She leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, her six children and ten grandchildren: The following brothers and sisters also survive her: Mrs. Ole Johnson, Orchard, Iowa; Peter, John, Belle, Seaver and Martin Peterson, all residing in Floyd County, Iowa.

"Thus only our mother could love us,
Thus only our mother could care,
And no one can ever forget her
And no one can fill her chair.
But each, in the joy of recalling,
And each in his separate home,
Shall cherish the Master who called
her,
And find her again in his home."

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday forenoon at the Osage Lutheran church by Rev. K. G. Nilson, and she was laid to rest in the family lot in the Osage Cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to express our gratitude to the many friends and neighbors for their floral offerings and acts of kindness during the recent death of our loving mother.
