KOREA OCCUPATION

Mrs. Clarice Gosselin of Little Cedar received word from the war department that her husband, Pvt. Earl Eugene Gosselin, had died of pneumonia in Korea on November 1, 1945.

He was the son of Clarence Gosselin. The dispatch stated that a letter would follow. Private Gosselin had been overseas since one year ago last June.

Mrs. Gosselin and their son, Allan Eugene, have been living with Mrs. Gosselin's father, Robert Brown, at Little Cedar.

PVT. EARL GOSSELIN REBURIAL AT RICEVILLE

Riceville, Ia. – Reburial service was held at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage, Friday for Pvt. Earl E. Gosselin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gosselin, and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.

Rev. E. Bodenham, retired Riceville Baptist Minister, conducted the service with the Riceville American Legion assisting.

Private Gosselin was born November 22, 1922 near Little Cedar. He attended Riceville High School. He married Clarice Brown at Little Cedar, June 14, 1944, and to them was born a son, Allen Gene. The wife and mother is now Mrs. Paul Nicholson, Orchard.

Other survivors are his parents; three sisters; Mrs. Marion Hamm, Charles City; Joan and Irma, at home.

Private Gosselin entered the service September 11, 1943. He served in New Guinea, the Philippines and Korea.

He died November 1, 1945 in Korea, at the age of 23 from pneumonia.

OSAGE SOLDIER'S
BODY TO BE RETURNED
SOON FOR REBURIAL

Funeral services for Pvt. Earl Eugene Gosselin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gosselin of Osage, are pending the arrival of his body in Osage.

Probable burial will be in the National Cemetery at Keokuk.

Pvt. Gosselin's body arrived in the United States from Korea. He died in Korea on November 1, 1945, at the age of 23. Temporary burial was made in the army cemetery at Seoul, Korea.

Earl Gosselin was born on November 22, 1922, and went to school in Burr Oak township. He graduated from the Riceville high school. He was a member of the Methodist church. Earl entered service on September 11, 1943, and served in new Guinea, the Philipines, and Korea.

He is survived by his parents; three sisters, Joan and Irma at home, and Mrs. Larrie Hamm of Waterloo; and his grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Guffey of Beloit, Wisconsin.

REBURIAL SERVICES

WILL BE FRIDAY

Reburial services for Pvt. Earl E. Gosselin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gosselin of Osage, will be held Friday afternoon, May 20, 1949, at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage. Burial will be in the Riverside cemetery at Riceville.

Pvt. Gosselin was born November 22, 1922, near Little Cedar. He received his elementary education in Burr Oak township and attended the Riceville high school. He also attended the Brownville Methodist church.

Earl entered the service September 11, 1943, and received his basic training at Camp Beale, Calif. He served in new Guinea, the Philippines and Korea. He died of pneumonia on November 1, 1945, in Korea, at the age of 23.

Pvt. Gosselin was married on June 14, 1944, to Clarise Brown of Little Cedar.

Survivors include his parents; three sisters: Mrs. Marian Hamm of Charles City, Joan and Irma at home; one son, Allen Gene; his former wife, Mrs. Paul Nicholson of Orchard; and his grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Guffey of Beloit, Wisconsin.
