MAN HANGS SELF IN BARN AT MCINTIRE

McIntire – George Butterfield, 72, committed suicide by hanging himself in the barn at his home sometime Saturday night, according to Dr. R. L. Whitley, of Osage, Mitchell County Coroner.

The man’s body was found Sunday by a neighbor, Fred Kinnan, who had gone to the house and found a note on the table stating that Butterfield’s body would be found in the barn.

Dr. Whitley said that friends had reported he was despondent. He had lived in McIntire about 25 years.

He leaves his wife, the former Ruth Eastman of McIntire, who was not at home, a son, Reese, 14, of McIntire, and 3 daughters.
