Frederick Henry Ludwig, son of Edward and Amelia Kruger, was born on the Kruger farm, six miles southeast of Riceville, Iowa, on December 23, 1885.

A heart attack ended his earthly career suddenly, shortly after noon on Sunday, December 27, 1936. Though not his usual healthy, robust self for several weeks, due to the presistent flu and cold, the news of his sudden passing fell like a bomb shell on the community.

His earthly days numbered 51 years and 4 days.
