August 21, 1841 -- May 22, 1917
The many relatives and friends of Mrs. Henrietta Kruger was greatly astonished last week Tuesday to hear of her sudden death. She was suffering from an attack of neuralgia which evidently went to her heart, causing death.
Mrs. Henrietta Kruger, nee Leubow, was born in Polcho, Mecklenburg, Germany, August 21, 1841. As a girl of fourteen years, she accompanied her parents when they emmigrated to this country, where they chose Racine, Wisconsin for their home. After living there for several years, the Leubow family came to Riceville, Iowa, where they have resided ever since, and have been a great factor in the building up of the community south of town.
In 1859, the marriage of the deceased took place, her husband being Mr. Wm. Kruger, who departed this life several years ago.
The following relatives are left to mourn her demise; six sons: Edward, Henry, Chris, Louis, Benjamin, Julius; and three daughters: Mrs. Ephriam Reckner, Mrs. Carol Hoeft, and Mrs. Wm. Worple; a brother, Wm. Leubow, as well as forty-eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Her age was 75 years, 9 months and 1 day.
The funeral was held last Thursday at the Lutheran Church south of town, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Karl Rudolph, and interment took place in the Lutheran cemetery.
