DEATH TAKES TWO FROM ONE FAMILY

J. W. NADEN PASSED AWAY
LAST THURSDAY - MRS.
LAMPHIER DIED NEXT DAY

Death entered the Naden home last week and took the father and grandmother; J. W. Naden

Octavia Joyle Lamphier

Octavia Joyle was born in Swanton, Vermont, April 22, 1829, and departed this life at Osage, Iowa February 2, 1923, having nearly reached the 94th milestone.

She was united in marriage with Alfred B. Lamphier in 1848 at Burlington, Vermont, on the historic Lake Champlain. A part of their early married life was spent at Windsor, Vermont, and at Lowell, Massachusetts. Later on they moved to Freeport, Illinois, and from this pace moved to Floyd, Iowa, where the greater part of her life was spent.

Her husband and daughter preceded her in death many years ago, her husband departing in 1895 and her daughter in 1911.

In 1920, failing health prompted her to come to Osage, where she made her home with her grandson, James R. Naden, and family. Here she received all the care and loving kindness that anyone could wish bestowed upon them.

She is survived by one grandson, James R. Naden; his wife and two great-grandchildren, Verne Lamphier Naden and Josephine Grace Naden.

Mrs. Lamphier was converted in her youth and her whole life was a shining example of true Christian womanhood. She was on of the pioneer members of the church at Floyd, assisting in the formation of its first class, and was for many years a teacher the he Sunday school. As declining years came on. the Bible became her constant companion. She lived a life full of Christian thoughts and deeds and it may be said of her, "she hath not lived in vain."

Funeral services were held at Floyd at the M. E. Church Sunday, Reverend DeBuy officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all the friends who so kindly assisted us at this time, and for the many beautiful flowers. -

James R. Naden and Family.
