Mr. and Mrs. Bemus and family came to Iowa in 1900, settling at Dysart. In 1909 they moved to the Riceville community, living on the farm until 1915, when they moved into the town of Riceville. Mr. Bemus worked for the Equity Company for five years. He spent the rest of his life in Riceville except four years he lived in West Union and Waterloo.

Mr. Bemus was converted to the Christian life during early manhood, and united with the Baptist Church in his home community. He united with the First Baptist Church of Riceville after moving into this community, and was a member here when released by death.

Also, two brothers, John Bemus of New York and Charles Bemus of Riceville, and two sisters, Ada Colby of New York and Sarah Fairbanks of Waterloo. A host of friends will also miss him.
