Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Leraaen, 90, who died at the home of her son, Gustav, Saturday, January 30, 1960, were held Tuesday, February 2 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Don Hamilton officiating.
Mrs. Leraaen was born April 4, 1869, in Numedal, Norway, and was baptized and confirmed there. She was married to Ole Leraaen in 1895. Four children were born to them in Norway, one dying in infancy.
In 1901 she and her husband came to St. Ansgar where she lived the rest of her life. Four children were born to them in America. Two of them died in infancy. Bertina, her only daughter, died in 1957.
Mrs. Leraaen is survived by five sons; Halvor, Carl, Gustav and Henry of St. Ansgar and Knut of Waterloo; also 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and nine sisters. Mrs. Leraaen has one brother, one sister and a number of nieces and nephews living in Norway.
Since coming to America, Mrs. Leraaen has been a member of First Lutheran church here.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Don Hamilton in charge of the committal services.
