MRS. FJELD, 78, DIES SUDDENLY, RITES FOR OSAGE WOMAN SET FOR FRIDAY
Osage, Iowa – Funeral services for Mrs. Martin Fjeld, 78, who died suddenly Monday night at her farm home seven miles southwest of Osage, have been set tentatively for Friday afternoon. Services will be held at her home and at the Rock Creek Lutheran church, the Rev. Blaine Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.
As Gunhild Moe, she was born in Valders, Norway, April 15, 1864, coming to America at the age of one year with her parents. They lived in Dane County, Wisconsin, one year, following which they moved to Rock Creek, Mitchell County, where she had resided since.
On June 3, 1892, she was married to Martin Fjeld, and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in June 1942
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Milton Wamstad and Mrs. Tilman Norby, Rock Creek, and Olga, at home; one son, Oscar, living on the home farm, one brother, George Moe, Rock Creek, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

#4:Gunhild Olsdatter (Christiansmoen) Moe was born April 15, 1864 at Valdres, Oppland, Norway to Ole Oleson Christiansmoen and Guri Olsdatter Bjoran Maafaa. Her first name is found as Gunhild, Gunnild and Julia; her maiden surname was Christiansmoen and shortened to Moe after emigration; her married surname found as Field, Fjeld, Fjelde.
Obituary from Mitchell County Iowa Press News, March 1943: "The sudden death of Mrs. Martin Field Sunday evening was a shock to the whole community. She had been in apparent good health and was about her home, then about 8 P.M. she suffered a heart attack and died instantly [on March 22, 1943 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.]
Gunhild (Julia) Olsdatter Christiansmoen was born in Valdres, Norway on April 15, 1864, the daughter of Ole Olsen Christiansmoen and Guri Olsdatter Maafaa. She was the third child in a family of eight children.
Her siblings were: George Oscar Oleson Christiansmoen Moe; Gulbrand Gilbert Moe; Martin Oleson Moe; Olaus George Moe; Oline Moe; Caroline Karina Moe and Marie Moe.
When she was about a year old (1865), her parents and she & two older brothers immigrated to Dane County, Wisconsin where they lived about a year. Next, they moved to Cedar Twnshp., Mitchell Co, Iowa, and lived temporarily in the Thideman Docken cabin till purchasing a farm where they established their home (abt 1866). Also about this time, the family changed their surname to Moe. Gundhild has been a life long member of the RCLC church.
Baptized in Norway, confirmed at RCLC April 20, 1879, she was an active member of the church. She lived in Cedar Township, Iowa 74 of her 76 years.
On June 3, 1892, Gunhild was united in marriage to Martin Field.
To them four children were born: Mina Olive (Mrs. Milton) Wamstad; Gea Mabel (Mrs. Tillman) Norby; Oscar George and Olga Karine, at home.
Mr. & Mrs. Field celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary a year ago [1942].Preceding her in death were three brothers: Ole, Gilbert, Martin; three sisters: Kari, Lena & Mary. There remain to mourn her passing, her husband, four children, five grandsons and one granddaughter, one brother George, besides the Rock Creek Community and other relatives.
Funeral services are being held Thursday, at 1 o'clock at home; 2 P.M. at Rock Creek Lutheran Church with the Rev. C. Blaine Gunderson officiating.
Interment will be in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
