#2:Caroline Larson was born at Handrup, Jutland, Denmark on December 28, 1851 and passed away at the home of her son, Helmer on August 3, 1931 aged 79 years, 7 months, and 5 days.
Her early life was spent in her native land. Here she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and has been true to that faith throughout her entire life.
On December 28, 1873, she was united in marriage with Rasmus Hansen. They made their home in Denmark until the year 1886 when they immigrated to America and settled in the vicinity of St. Ansgar. They lived on farms in this section until 1909 when they retired and moved to St. Ansgar. On December 28, 1923 they celebrated their golden wedding. Mr. Hansen passed away on August 9, 1925 and for a time Mrs. Hansen continued to live in the home. Later she engaged rooms in the Miller block and took up her residence there.
Last fall Mrs. Hansen fell and broke her hip and following this spent six months in hospitals at Rochester and Albert Lea, Minn. She was brought back to St. Ansgar April 6th and made her home with her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Hansen. She was very much pleased with this arrangement and enjoyed getting back among her friends and being at home with her own folks.
Mrs. Hansen suffered a stoke early Saturday morning, August 1, following several heart attacks and did not regain consciousness. She passed peacefully away on the afternoon of the following Monday.
She is survived by five sons, Andrew M. of near Otranto; Alfred of south of St. Ansgar; Ernest L. and Helmer of St. Ansgar; and Fred L. of Minneapolis. There are also ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. There is also a brother, Nels Larson of Buhl, Idaho and sister, Mrs. N.P. Ring also of Buhl, Idaho.
Grandma Hansen, as she was known to all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance, was a cheerful body and made friends wherever she went. She was a loving wife and mother, a joy to her five boys. Her place is vacant in the home and she will be missed by a large circle of friends.
