LAST RITES TUESDAY FOR MITCHELL WOMAN

Osage – Funeral services for Mrs. John E Bower, 66, of Mitchell will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage, the Rev. T. P. Solem of Osage officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Mrs. Bower was found dead by her husband at 6 a.m. Sunday having apparently died about 5 hours earlier. She had been reading a newspaper and was holding her glasses in her hand.

Born near Little Cedar, Etta Leeman was the daughter of Joseph and Martha Leeman. She married in 1907 to John E. Bower and they lived on a farm north of Osage for 31 years, then moved to Osage and to Mitchell 2 ½ years ago.

Survivors include the husband; stepmother, Mrs. Ora Leeman of Osage; sisters, Mrs. Charles Patrick, Jamestown, N. Dakota; and Mrs. John Tune Chicago; and a brother, Burt Leeman, McMinnville, Oregon. An only son, Ellsworth, was killed in an auto accident in 1940.

Etta (Leeman) Bower was born April 1884 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Leeman and Martha (Bell) Leeman. She married John Bower, the son of Jacob and Caroline Bower.
