IOWA DEATHSOsage – Miss Nettie Haugen, 74, died of a paralytic stroke Saturday night at the Mercy Hospital, Mason City. She had been found by her brother-in-law, Ole. L. Wahl, Saturday morning, in the kitchen of her home, where she lived alone and was completely paralyzed when found.
She was born in Norway to Ole and Annie Haugen. At the age of two, she accompanied her parents to a farm west of Osage, where she lived for more than 70 years.
She was a teacher for several years until forced to cease work due to illness of parents. After the dceath of her parents she resided with a brother and sister, now deceased. Her only survivor is a sister, Mrs. Ole L. Wahl, near Osage.
Preceding her were a brother, Harold, and five sisters: Julia Haugen; Mrs. Helen Nelson; Mrs. John Evenso; and Mrs. Thomas Larson; and another in infancy.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion funeral home and at 1:45 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Rock Creek cemetery.
