WALLING FUNERAL TO BE SATURDAY AT ORCHARD

Orchard – Funeral services for William Walling, 86, will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage. The Rev. Homer Doak, pastor of the Congregational Church, will be in charge. He died Thursday at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage.

Mr. Walling was born September 16, 1870, to William and Nancy (Neville) Walling southeast of Orchard on a farm homesteaded by is grandmother more than 100 years ago. On November 16, 1893, he was married to Lillian Crawford and they lived on the home farm before retiring to Orchard.

He was an assessor in West Lincoln Township and had been custodian of the Congregational Church for several years.

Survivors include his son, Lawrence Walling, a grandson and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters; Mrs. Elias Vinson (Cora) Cady and Mrs. Jay (Gertie) Cole.
Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
