RITES FOR WALLACE, 20, HELD IN CHURCH AT OSAGE

Osage – Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church in charge of the Rev. John D. Kern for Francis Harry Wallace, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wallace, who died Sunday afternoon at the University Hospital in Iowa City of rheumatic fever.

Mr. Wallace was born on a farm in Floyd County, February 4, 1916, but spent all his life in Mitchell County. He was married about a year ago to Laura Adams of Knapp, Wisconsin. They had one son, James, who died in infancy in March.

Surviving are his widow, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wallace, three brothers and a sister.

Ill But Short Time

Francis Wallace, 20, died at a hospital at Iowa City Sunday evening after an illness of less than a week. Mr. Wallace had been in poor health the past year, however.

Francis Harry, son of Harry and Gladys Wallace, was born February 4, 1916, in Floyd County, near Russ, Iowa, and grew to manhood here in the Osage community. He received his education in the local schools.

On September 25, 1935, he was united in marriage to Laura Adams, of Knapp, Wisconsin, the Reverend John D. Knapp, pastor of the Baptist church, performing the ceremony at the parsonage.

Although not as rugged as most young men, he was always found busily at his work and ready to meet all with a smile.

Early in life he suffered inflammatory rheumatism and the illness left him with a weak heart, which was the final cause of his death. On May 30 he was taken ill with flue, and the next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. he suffered a stroke from which he never rallied and died at the State University Hospital, Iowa City, Sunday, June 7, at 3:35 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, his mother and father; sister, Adeline, and brothers, Leo, Milo and Melbourne, besides a host of other relatives and friends. His little son, Jimmie preceded him in death a short time ago.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Tuesday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Reverend John D. Kern, and burial was made in the Osage Cemetery beside his little son, Jimmie
