Alfred Chatman Dies; Hold Services Monday

Osage – Funeral services were to be held Monday at 2 p.m., at Champions funeral home for Alfred Chatman, 81, who died at his apartment shared with his daughter, at Duluth, Minn. He had suffered a paralytic stroke 7 years ago, and within the past 10 days, had 2 more attacks, which caused his death. Burial was to be in the family lot in the Osage cemetery. The Rev. Stiles Lessly was to officiate.

Alfred Chatman was born June 25, 1862, near Nashua, son of Moses and Rachael Chatman. He spent his childhood there, and moved as a youth to Mitchell County with his parents.
He married Harriet Colton and they resided east of Orchard for many years. They retired to Osage in 1906 where they lived until Mrs. Chatman’s death 30 years later, in 1936. He then lived with his children.

Surviving are his 3 children, Gladys, Duluth, Minnesota; Ben and Frank Chatman of Osage. He was the 9th child in a family of 10 to die, only his brother, Henry near Osage, surviving.
