William Henderson
Killed In Highway
Accident At Nevada

William Henderson, St. Ansgar hardware clerk, was instantly killed Saturday night in a peculiar highway accident on Lincoln Highway a few miles out of Nevada.

He and George Baldner were driving together when their car slipped off the wet pavement and went into the ditch. A truck came along and came to a stop when the two men hailed it, and Mr. Henderson stepped up on the truck's running board to explain their situation.

In the meantime a car had driven up from the other direction, and stopped opposite the truck, leaving its lights burning; then a car came from the opposite direction, crashing into the rear of the truck and throwing William to the ground and fracturing his skull. Still another car came up and crashed into the wreckage during the melee. One other man - the driver of the first car to strike the truck - was injured.

Mr. Henderson grew up in Brownville, later moving to Riceville with his folks. He served in the World War and after his return worked in the hardware and implement business in Riceville, making a reputation for himself as an intelligent, capable man. Something over a year ago he moved to St. Ansgar, and at the time of his death was working in the Bernstein Hardware Store.

He leaves a wife - a daughter of the Hi Gooders, and two children, a girl and a boy.
