OSAGE, IOWA — Funeral rites will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m., at the Champion Funeral Home for Clara Abernethy, 65, with burial in the family lot in the Osage City Cemetery. She died in January, 1946, in Florida.

She came to Osage as an infant with Col. and Mrs. Alonzo Abernethy. Colonel Abernethy, a Civil war veteran, was second principal of the Cedar Valley Seminary, in Osage.

Clara was graduated from Cedar Valley Seminary and took further academic work at Des Moines College, Des Moines, at University of Iowa, and a special librarian's course at Urbana, Illinois. She was employed at the statehouse, as librarian at Iowa City, at the state university, at Minnesota university, and at a girls' school at Rock Hill, S. C. She had spent the last several years at St. Petersburg, Florida, where an older brother, Herbert, resides.

A sister, Mable Gillan, and a brother, Eddie, preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Baptist church since 1891 and member of PEO and DAR.
