OBITUARY
Funeral rites will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Champion Funeral Home For J. Ray Tubbs, 67, who died Sunday at the Mitchell county Memorial Hospital. Burial will be in the Osage City Cemetery.
He was born on January 4, 1886, to Charles and Ruth Clark Tubbs, on a farm near Osage. Ray attended Cedar Valley Seminary, and worked as a mechanic at implement shops, and for the past 10 years was employed as an operator at the Osage municipal light plant. He was unable to work for two years because of failing health.
In 1913 he married Bessie Button at Kansas City, Missorui. The couple had lived all their married life in Osage.
He leaves a widow; seven children: Grace Rollin, Mrs. James Appleton, and Mrs. Cyril Cornwall, all of Osage; Mrs. John Tesar and Mrs. William Gardner, both of Cedar Rapids, and Betty Tubbs, Iowa City; 10 grandchildren, two brothers, Clayton, of Floyd, and Earl, of Osage; three sisters, Mrs. Ernest Coonradt, Waverly; Mrs. Perry Galley, Kenyon, Minnesota, and Mrs. Ernest Parr, Osage. He was preceded in death by an infant son.

Tubbs-Button - 1912
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tubbs arrived here last night from Kansas City where they were married Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Tubbs are both former residents of Osage and are well known here. Mr. Tubbs is the son of C.J. Tubbs, who lives west of town. Mrs. Tubbs is better known as Bessie Button. She has been absent from Osage about three years. A part of that time she spent on a claim in the west, and during the last year and a half she has lived with her parents in Kansas City.
