OBITUARY-

Mrs. Bessie Tubbs, 83, Of Osage

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Tubbs, 83, of Osage were held Friday at the Baptist church. Mrs. Tubbs died March 25, at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage after a year of failing health. She was admitted to the hospital March 23, and was the victim of a malignancy.

The Rev. Wesley Anderson, pastor, was in charge of the services, and arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Bessie Button was born Feb. 26, 1886 in Burr Oak Township, Mitchell County, the daughter of Cyrus and Carrie Case Button. The family left Burr Oak and lived in Valley Falls Kansas, Edgerton Missouri, and Harding County, South Dakota. Ray Tubbs and Bessie Button were married March 18, 1913 in Kansas City, Missouri, and they settled in Osage shortly after to remain in this area for the remainder of their lives.

She was a member of the Baptist Church here, and worked in various capacities including the American Baptist Women and her circles.

Surviving are her children; Grace and Rollin of Osage; Mrs. Bill Gardner (Kathryn), and Mrs. John Tesar (Shirley) of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Melvin Warner (Betty) of Davenport; four brothers, Sherman Button of Raytown, Missouri; Wayne and Joe Button of Kansas City, Missouri; Henry Button of Seattle, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Hoffman of Sacramento, California; Mrs. Ruth Odam of Glendora New Jersey; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, an infant son, two daughters, her parents and one brother.
