Norby Services Set at Osage

OSAGE, IOWA — Kenneth Norby, 43, Mitchell county farmer, died Wednesday night at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.

He had submitted to brain surgery in August, 1957, at Rochester, Minnesota, after which he was left in a partially paralyzed condition.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheryl and Carol; two stepsons, James and Terry Hartwig, and his mother, Mrs. Ida Norby of Osage.

Services will be Saturday at 1:15 p. m. at the Champion Funeral Home and 2 p. m. at Rock Creek Lutheran church. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Kenneth Irving Norby was born May 7, 1915 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa, to Carl Halsteinsen Norby and Ida Bertina Olsen, the fourth of their five children.

Kenneth was baptized on June 6, 1915 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Mr. & Mrs. Anton Lundene and Mr. & Mrs. Hjalmer Norby.
He was confirmed at RCLC on May 19, 1929. He attended school in Osage, Iowa and served in the armed forces.

1920: Carl Norby 45, Ida B. Norby 36, Rosella T. Norby 12, Herbert L. Norby 9, Kenneth I. Norby 4 yrs 3 mos.

1925: Carl Norby 50, Ida B Norby 41, Rossella T. Norby 17, Herbert L. Norby 14, Kenneth I Norby 9, Lorey H. Norby 4.

1930: Carl Norby 55, Ida B. Norby 46, Herbert L. Norby 20, Kenneth I. Norby 15, Loren H. Norby 10.

1940: Carl Norby 65, Ida Norby 56, Kenneth Norby 24, Loren Norby 20.

Kenneth married Madge M. Clifton abt 1940 at Iowa, they had no children and later divorced.
He next married Helen May Klinger Hartwig on January 10, 1951 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa.

Kenneth and his brother, Herbert Norby, bought a farm west of Meroa, Iowa, to farm together. When Kenneth was in the service, Herbert rented the land. When Kenneth returned home, he took over the farm with his wife, Helen and her two sons. Two daughters were born to them while living here. A new house was added to the place in the early 1950's. The farm was sold in the 1980's.

Kenneth I. Norby died January 28, 1959 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
