Anna Saug, 1836-1927

Mrs. Anna Saug was born in Hadeland, Norway on June 8, 1836. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Hadeland and grew to womanhood in her native home.

On April 28, 1859, she entered into holy matrimony with Borger L. Saug, of her native place. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1911.

In June 1870 she came with her husband to America and shortly after coming to this community, they bought a piece of land in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, where they built themselves a beautiful home and continued to live until the time of her death. In her wedlock two children were born.

The near relatives that survive include: her son, Lars; her brother, Peter Peterson, of Lyle, MN; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The departed sister has always been an active and exemplary member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church and the Ladies’ Aid society. She had for many years been in feeble health and since last April had been almost helpless and needed the kind and constant care of her dear ones.

She died on June 28, 1927, being at the time of her death 91 years and 20 days of age. The usual infirmities of old age was the cause of her death.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.C. Myhre on June 30, 1927 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. Interment was made in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
