Osage Scoutmaster 25 years, Dies HereFuneral arrangements were incomplete Wednesday for Cyril Cornwell, 56, Osage Boy Scout leader for 25 years, who died early yesterday following a stroke. Mr. Cornwell was stricken while at work Saturday morning at the home of Mrs. Bess Hewitt in Osage, and was taken to Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. He never completely regained consciousness.
Tentative arrangements were for the funeral services to be held at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage. The Rev. E.E. Pencook, pastor of the Methodist church will probably be in charge, with the Rev. John D. Woodin, pastor of the Baptist Church assisting. Burial will be in Osage cemetery.
Cyril Earl Cornwell was born April 11, 1904 in Osage, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Cornwell. He grew to manhood here, graduating from Osage High School in 1922. He was married September 6, 1939 to Marian Tubbs. She suffered from a serious heart condition, and died Oct. 26, 1957 as the result of an attack of Asiatic flu and complications.
Cy Cornwell was active in Boy Scout work in Osage for more than 25 years. He was holder of the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award for Scout Leaders.
Mr. Cornwell was employed as an electrician with Davidson Gas and Electric in Osage for about 30 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
His five children: Richard 20, Elizabeth 18, Mary Kay 15, Allen 13, and Carol 8, all at home survive. Also surviving are his mother Mrs. Nellie Cornwell of Osage and his sisters, Mrs. Louis DuBois of Ventura, California, and Mrs. Alverne Olson of Osage.
Preceding him in death were his father, who died in 1924, his wife, twin sons, and one other son who died in infancy.
