Last Rites Held At First Lutheran
For John O. TollefsonFuneral services for John O. Tollefson, 82, long-time resident of St. Ansgar, who died at his home Sunday, April 27, were held at the First Lutheran Church Wednesday, April 30 with the Reverend O.A. Langehough officiating.
John O. Tollefson, the son of Ole and Guri Tollefson Skolt, was born August 15, 1870 in Gol Hallingdal, Norway. He was baptized there in the Lutheran faith. He came to America in the year 1884 and since 1888 had been a faithful member. He was 14 years old when he arrived in his country and was confirmed here.
With his family he farmed and worked out for many years. Upon his retirement he moved to St. Ansgar where he had since made his home.
Mr. Tollefson had been in failing health for the last two years and had been under the doctor’s care for some time. He was stricken presumably at about 12:15 P.M. Sunday while eating his dinner and died peacefully, still holding a spoon in his hand.
He is survived by a niece, Mrs. John Asheim of Mohall, North Dakota and was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Margit, Belle, Kari, and Julia; also two brothers, Tollef Jr. and Tollef St.
Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery with Reverend Langehough in charge of committal services.
