Funeral services for Mrs. Nels Robertson, 84, of Lyle, who died at her home Sunday, February 6, 1955 were held Wednesday, February 9, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle with the Rev. Stanford O. Stenson officiating.

All the members of her immediate family were at her bedside except one daughter, Mrs. Roy Daub of Nome, North Dakota, who had been with her mother but had left for home Friday.

Helena Maria Hanson, daughter of Martin and Anna Hanson, was born on the Hanson homestead in Deer Creek township, Worth county, near Carpenter, Iowa, on August 2, 1871. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith in August of the same year by the Rev. Claus Clausen, First Lutheran minister of St. Ansgar, Iowa. She was confirmed on July 25, 1885, with the first class to be confirmed in the Deer Creek Lutheran church. She spent her childhood in the Carpenter and Deer Creek vicinity. She was united in marriage to Niels Peter Robertson on September 1, 1897.

The couple first settled in Worth county, Iowa, and later moved to Mitchell county where they established their home near Toeterville, Iowa. Here they spent many years rearing their children and taking part in community life. In 1945, they moved to their present home in Lyle, Minnesota, where she has resided until her death.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church, also of our Savior's Mission Circles and was a faithful member and true Christian. She attended services, regularly until her illness revented it. She was stricken with a disease two years ago and never fully recovered after two major operations. She never compained during her long illness, always bearing her own burdens and putting her trust and faith in the Lord. She passed away peacefully Sunday evening, February 6, 1955, age 83, in the presence of her immediate family. She was a kind friend to everyone who knew her. Serving others was one of her greatest enjoyments. She will be greatly missed by her husband, her family and by everyone who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and six children; Martin, on the home place, Florence (Alvin) Swenson, of Enderlin, ND, Oscar of Minneapolis, Esther (Roy) Daub, of Nome, ND, Lillian (Emil) Johnson and Clifford (Ruth) Robertson of Lyle. Surviving are also twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Atelia Robertson of Blooming Prairie, MN.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, and three grandchildren.
