Body of Emil O. Beyer Brought Here For Burial
After a brief service at Bertha, Minnesota, at which the Reverend Arnold Kretzchmar officiated, the body of Emil O. Beyer was brought to St. Ansgar for Burial. The funeral was held here at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Manday, October 6. (1947) Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Emil O. Beyer, a resident of Ogema, Minnesota for the past ten years passed away of a heart attack at the Thiel Hospital, Bertha, Minnesota, on Thursday, October 2, 1947, at the age of 74 years and 6 months.
He was born April 2, 1873, in Watertown, township, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, to Julius Beyer and his wife Ernestine, nee Bruesewitz, and was baptized there into the Lutheran faith. In his early youth he moved with his parents to Mitchell, Iowa. On January 8, 1889, he received the rite of confirmation at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church near St. Ansgar, Iowa.
On December 13, 1900, he married Miss Anna Nack of Grafton, Iowa. To this union eight children were born, two of whom preceded him in death. Herman in infamcy, and Walter at the age of 20 years.
In 1916 Mr. Beyer moved his family to Buffalo, North Dakota where he farmed for 21 years before moving to Ogema, Minnesota.
Mr. Beyer is survived by his wife Anna; by four sons: Lorence, Clarence and Alvin of Ogema, Minnesota, and Ernest of Fargo, North Dakota; by two daughters, Mabel, now Mrs. Edwin Schultz of Bertha, Minnesota, and Laura, now Mrs. Julius Beyer of St. Ansgar, Iowa
The deceased also leaves to mourn his sad demise three sisters: Mrs. Martha Kanzenbach, Mrs. Emma Bartz, and Mrs. Mary Steinberg; nineteen grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.
Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
