EUGENE C. MOREY

Funeral services were held Monday at the United Church of Christ, Osage, for Eugene C. Morey, 72, rural Osage. Mr. Morey died Friday, August 4, 1989, at Mitchell County Memorial Hosptial, Osage, of natural causes. Rev. K. Hejnal officiated. Burial was in Orchard Cemetery, Orchard, Iowa, with military rites conducted by the Orchard American Legion Post 641.

Mr. Morey was born November 8, 1916 in Mitchell County, Iowa, to John H. and Ovelta (Beyatt) Morey. He attended schools in Howardville and Floyd and graduated from Orchard High School in 1935.

On July 26, 1944 he was married to Mary Love at Osage. They farmed until 1959, when they moved to Osage, where he worked at Mallow and Sons. He later worked at Erdmann Motor Co., until retiring in 1981.

He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Orchard American Legion and the Osage VFW. He was a member of the United Church of Christ at Osage. Mr. Morey was also a member of Sunny Brae Country Club at Osage.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, rural Osage; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Ellen) Barrett, Charles City, and Mrs. Harold (Marian) Mettner, Lansing; 20 nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and a nephew.
