Funeral services were held Friday August 4, 1989 at Sacred Heart Church, Meyer, Iowa, for John N. Freund, 40, of Meyer. Burial was in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Meyer.
Mr. Freund died August 1, 1989 in a two-car collision north of Toeterville.
He was born December 20, 1948 in Osage, Iowa, to Lawrence and Christina Freund of Meyer. He attended Visitation High School, Stacyville, for three years and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1967. He was self employed as an auto body and auto painter and also farmed.
Mr. Freund was a member of the Army Airborne, and a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors include his parents of Meyer; one brother, Larry of St. Ansgar; six sisters: Ann Rezabek, Alice Wright, Dorothy Waddell, Virginia Robling, Lorraine Warrington, and Betty Neeley.

Two dead after car collisionSTACYVILLE, IOWA — Two men were killed Tuesday evening when their cars collided near Stacyville after one apparently ran a stop sign. John Bierbrodt, 29, of Rose Creek, Minn., and John Freund, 40, of Mclntire, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident three miles northwest of Stacyville at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Both men were alone in their cars.
Mitchell County Sheriff Curt Younker said Bierbrodt was traveling north on a gravel road when he apparently ran a stop sign and drove in the path of Freund, who was traveling east.
Osage's Jaws of Life was summoned to remove Freund from his car. The Stacyville Fire Department and the St. Ansgar Rescue Squad also assisted.
The accident remains under investigation by the Mitchell County Sheriff's Department and Iowa State Patrol.
