OBITUARY

Nellie Munson was born in Sweden on October 7, 1849, and came to Osage, Iowa in the spring of 1876.

That fall she was united in marriage with
Carl Svanberg. Seven children were born to them, four having passed to the heavenly home, some time ago. The remaining, a daughter, Anna O. Johnson and the sons Oscar and Carl, one sister, Mrs. Lot Landberg are left with the husband to mourn the loss of the departed one.

Mrs. Svanberg was confirmed and united with the Lutheran church at the age of 15 years and there remained until 1894 when she united with the Methodist church at Osage, under the pastorate of E.J. lockwood.

Mrs. Svanberg gave to her son Carl a year ago a number of facts concerning her early life and then made the remark that she would remain in the Methodist church as long as she lived.

She also chose several hymns and Psalm 57, 1st verse as her text.

Mrs. Svanberg has been an untiring worker all her life and her great pleasure has been to provide comforts for her dear ones. She was at all times a Bible student and found great comfort in the study of God's word. Her words to all young people were "Read the Bible."

Mrs. Svanberg will not only be missed by her own relatives but by friends and neighbors as well.
Her illness was of short duration being at social gatherings Thursday aternoon apparently in good health.

That evening being taken seriously ill a doctor was called and with loving friends to administer, all that could be was done, but God had willed it otherwise and with her husband and sister near her, she departed at 1:00 on Friday morning to her heavenly home.

Mrs. Svanberg was an unassuming woman, but patiently toiled for her family, touching many lives by her industries, weaving in her web of life the somber colors that her loved ones might enjoy the brighter tints. Her neighbors laid a beautiful floral design upon her casket in memory of her patient life and honest dealing.

The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, F. P. Schaffer, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, a large number of friends being in attendance. The text used was Psalms 57, 1st verse -- this being the request of the deceased. The hymns sung were also of her selection. Many floral tributes surrounded her coffin. Her body was laid away in the Osage cemetery.
