OBITUARY

Mrs. Maude Doudna Minette was born in Burr Oak Township, September 17, 1876, and died in the same farm February 4, 1901, making her age 24 years, 4 months and 18 days of age.

She was united in marriage to I. J. Minette of Richland Center, Wisconsin, September 2, 1897.
Two children were born to them, one two years old, and the other scarcely two weeks. Her girlhood home was spent in Osage.

At the age of seventeen she united with the Congregational church of that place, and remained a member until she removed to Burr Oak.

She then united with the M.E.church of that place in company with her husband. In June 1895 she graduated with honors from the Osage public schools and became a successful teacher in Mitchell County.

To know her was to love her and her death leaves a vacancy which never can be filled. Her life was one of love and unselfishness. Her sweet disposition always brought sunshine wherever she went. It would be impossible to enumerate her virutes; she was patient and hopeful during her sickness, always wishing those around here to be cheerful, and even in her last hours asked them to help her sing; after singing alone one verse of "Blessed Jesus keep me white. Nothing was left undone to stay the hand of death, but of no avial.

Maude has gone and leaves a sorrowing husband, two children, father, mother and sister, Mrs Myrtle Eckford, to mourn her early departure.

The funeral service, attended by a very large gathering of friends from Burr Oak and Osage was held at the house on Thursday, February 7, conducted by Rev. D. I. Coon of Osage. The music was furnished by members of her graduating class and the coffin was reverently borne by the friends of her earlier girlhood days, while the beautiful floral designs testified to the appreciation which she was held.
