March 16, 1977Joseph Thome of Stacyville died.
Funeral rites for Joseph Thome, 86, of Stacyville, Iowa, were held March 2, at Visitation Catholic church there.
Mr. Thome died on February 27, 1977, at the nursing home in Stacyville.
In charge of the mass was the Rev. Robert J. Reiss, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Thomas Carpenter of Meyer, the Rev. Joseph Griffin of Waterloo and the Rev. Justin Kane of Osage.
Joseph Thome was born July 6, 1890, at Stacyville, the son of John and Sarah Steiger Thome. He and Rosina Faas were married September 1, 1920 in Stacyville. They farmed near Stacyville until retiring in 1948.
Survivors are his wife, Rosina; three sons, Ralph, Osage; Ben of Adams and Joseph Jr., of Waterloo; five daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Mary) Young, Garner, Mrs. Gene (Marjorie) Mayer and Mrs. Vernon (Imelda) Mayer of Stacyville, Mrs. Roy (Lorena) Panhoff, Ventura and Mrs. Larry (Emelie) Hayungs of Cartersville, Ill.; 45 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Other survivors are five brothers, Frank and Albert of Stacyville, Roman of Osage, John of Adams and Arnold of St. Peter, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Eisterhold, Austin, and Mrs. Elizabeth Mueller, Stacyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
