AUSTIN, MINN. -- The funeral for Phyllis I. McAlister will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crane Community Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Randy Petersen officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. McAlister, 69, of Austin, a homemaker, died Saturday (June 7, 2003) at Austin Medical Center following a long illness with respiratory disease.
Phyllis I. Tubbs was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Osage, Iowa, and grew up there. On Aug. 21, 1951, she married Herbert McAlister and they made their home in Austin. Mr. McAlister died June 1, 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Sandy) and Jack (Carol), both of Austin; two daughters, Kris (John) Wobschall and Kathy Pike, both of Austin; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a brother, Charles (Barb) Tubbs of Oelwein, Iowa; and a sister, Joan (Bill) Kenny of Osage. A daughter preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Mayer Funeral Home and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

Funeral services were held for Phyllis I. McAlister, 69, of Austin on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at Crane Community Chapel. Pastor Randy Petersen officiated. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Phyllis died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the Austin Medical Center after a long battle with respiratory disease.
Phyllis was born November 27, 1933 in Osage, IA to Earl and Gladys (Erbe) Tubbs. She was raised in Osage and later moved to Austin after her marriage to Herbert McAlister on August 21, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1977. To this union were born five children: William "Bill," Kim, Jack, Kris and Kathy.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and daughter Kim Ellen.
Her survivors include two sons Bill (Sandy) McAlister and Jack (Carol) McAlister of Austin; two daughters Kris (John) Wobschall and Kathy Pike, also of Austin, 11 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, brother Charles (Barb) Tubbs, Oelwein, IA, sister Joan (Bill) Kenney, Osage, IA, father-in-law R.W. "Bill" McAlister, Austin, nieces and nephews.
Mayer Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
