AUSTIN, MINNESOTA -- The funeral for Wilmer "Tiny" Vedder will be on Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Robert Stohlmann officiating. Burial will be in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar, Iowa, with military graveside rites by Olaf B. Damm VFW Post 1216.
Mr. Vedder, 77, of 1801 Fourth St. N.E., a retired Hormel Foods Corp., employee, died Sunday (June 2, 1996) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Born March 16, 1919, in Hankinson, N.D., he graduated from St. Ansgar High School and served in the Army from 1941 to 1945. In 1947, he married Burnice Josephine Redwing in Owatonna and they made their home in Austin. Mr. Vedder was employed at Hormel until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne of Owatonna and Arlyn of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Donna (Mrs. Kim) Whiting of Stewartville and Ellen (Mrs. Tim) Kruger of Rochester; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
