ADAMS, MINNESOTA -- The funeral for Magdalen "Maggie" Freund will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, with the Rev. Gregory Leif officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Adams.

Mrs. Freund, 85, of Adams, a homemaker, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 2000) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Magdalen Mullenbach was born Aug. 14, 1915, in Johnsburg, Minn. She graduated from Adams High School and worked in Austin for a short time. She married Stephen Freund on Sept. 28, 1938, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. They lived in St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Meyer, Iowa, before moving to Adams in 1952. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. She also liked gardening, crafts and shopping for antiques. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kenneth (Nancy) of Gallatin, Tenn., and Dennis (Judy) of Lake Forest, Calif.; three daughters, Mary (William) Colter of Scottsdale, Ariz., Judy (Kevin) Underdahl of Vista, Calif., and Rita (Gene) Miller of LeRoy, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Leonilla Younker, Armella Mullenbach, Mary Ann Mullenbach and Ida Winkels, all of Adams; and one brother, Otto (Marcella) Mullenbach of Austin.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m., and there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
