Obituary - Mrs. Samuel Fay

Miss Emeline Slaten was born at Olean, N.Y., Feb. 19, 1833, and died March 24, 1919, at her home in Denver Colo. She lived at Olean until she was married to Samuel Fay, of that town, in 1850. To this union six children were born: William, Horatio, Gilbert, Mellie, Charlie and Emma, William and Charlie having passed away. She also leaves four grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a circle of friends.

She came west, from York state in 1857. Her husband died in 1899, after which she made her home with her youngest daughter, Emma, at Denver, Colo. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church.

The remains were accompanied here by her daughter, Mrs. Frank Smith, from Denver, arriving in Osage on the noon train Friday, March 28. A short service was conducted at the chapel in the Osage cemetery by Rev. A. S. Cross, after which the body was laid to rest in the Osage cemetery.
